Details
Is it necessary to have RCM certification for electronic products when exporting to Australia? Many friends are unclear about this issue and often consult with this engineer. In fact, this is related to the products exported. RCM certification has scope and requirements. SAA certification is Australia's safety certification, and C-TICK certification is Australia's electromagnetic compatibility certification. You can look at my content below and find out the relevant product categories. If you have any related questions, please feel free to contact me.
Australian RCM Certification Profile:
RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) is a registration mark indicating that the supplier declares that the product complies with the safety and other requirements of the Australian State and New Zealand electrical safety laws/regulations, as well as the Australian Radiocommunication Act and the New Zealand Radiocommunication Act. 》Specified electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The RCM mark can only be used if the product meets both electrical safety regulations and EMC regulations.
The owner of the RCM mark is the federal government, the electrical safety statutory authority and the EMC statutory authority accept the RCM mark as the supplier's declaration of conformity. As long as the supplier approves the use of the RCM mark in any state, the statutory governing bodies of other states are acceptable, thus achieving a ratification of the state. The RCM logo is only available if the supplier needs to apply and register. Once registered, the supplier can use the RCM logo on all products that meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements. If the product using the RCM logo is found to be inconsistent with the applicable legal/regulatory requirements, the supplier will be penalized under the Australian Trademark Law.
2. Australia RCM certification service scope
Australia classifies the risk of electrical products into three levels: Level 1 low risk category; Level 2 medium risk category; Level 3 is high risk, with a list of 56 products.
Level 1 certification requirements: Refers to DC-powered products (providing EMC reports to directly apply for RCM certification) (ie C-TICK).
Level 2 certification requirements: Refers to AC-powered products (providing EMC Report + Safety Report Application for RCM Certification) (ie C-TICK).
Level 3 Certification Requirements: Refer to the list below (providing EMC Report + Safety Report + SAA Certificate) to apply for RCM Certification + EESS Registration.
As long as it is an electrical product, the voltage range is between 50V~~1000V AC; between 75V~1500V DC, it must meet the requirements of the Australian Electrical Safety Law. From March 1st, 2013, the product should be registered with the Australian National Database EESS and printed on the RCM logo before it can be sold in the market.
From January 1, 2016, the three-year transition period will end and the RCM logo will be fully enforced. Products that are not registered and affixed with the RCM logo will not be allowed to be sold in the market.
